Are Allergies Running Your Life? How We Can Help
- Posted on: Aug 15 2018
If you suffer from seasonal allergies or are just allergic to virtually everything around you, then you know how debilitating they can be at times. Allergies can give you red, swollen, itchy, watery eyes that make it hard to see well or to even wear makeup. But unless you know exactly what you’re allergic to, it can be hard to know what to stay away from and how to treat your allergies. Luckily, here at Dr. David A. Schlessinger’s office, we offer patients allergy testing to pinpoint what is causing all of your eye allergies. If you’ve never had allergy testing done before you might have a boatload of questions.
What is Allergy Testing?
As previously mentioned, allergy testing is a test that’s done to help find out what exactly you are allergic to. Once we pinpoint what’s causing your allergies, we will better be able to offer you treatment later on.
How Is Allergy Testing Performed?
If you have visions of allergy testing being done on your eyes, you are going to be happy to hear that your eyes won’t be involved at all. Here at Dr. David A. Schlessinger’s office, we use patch testing to help diagnose you with specific allergies. Patch testing involves making little pricks on your back and then rubbing allergens on your skin. If your skin reacts to the allergens, then that’s how we can tell what you’re allergic to.
What Happens After Allergy Testing?
If we do find that you are allergic to some of the allergens you are being tested for, we will record them in our files and give you a copy. Then, from there, you will know exactly what you’re allergic to and how to treat your allergies. We can also provide you with some treatment options as well.
If allergies seem to ruin your life every year, then let us help you pinpoint what you’re allergic to with allergy testing. To learn more about allergy testing, schedule a consultation at our Woodbury office today and give us a call at (516) 496-2122.
