Juvederm in Long Island
First approved by the FDA in 2006, Juvéderm® has been one of the world’s most popular dermal fillers. Since its debut as a single product, the Juvéderm® line has expanded. At Schlessinger Eye & Face, we offer three Juvéderm® products: Juvéderm® XC, Juvéderm® Ultra XC and Juvéderm® Voluma XC.
What are the Juvéderm® fillers?
All the Juvéderm® fillers are hyaluronic acid based. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body whose job is to hydrate and plump the skin. It does this by binding with 1,000 times its weight in water. When injected, the hyaluronic acid in Juvéderm® binds with water molecules in the area to firm the skin, add volume, and fill wrinkles.
Where is Juvéderm® XC used?
This is the original Juvéderm® product and still the most popular offering in the line. Juvéderm® XC is used to fill the creases that form around your mouth, predominantly nasolabial folds (also known as smile lines) running from your nose down to the corners of your mouth, parentheses lines that frame the sides of your mouth, and marionette lines that drop downward from the corners of the mouth.
Where is Juvéderm® Ultra XC used?
This was one of the first dermal fillers created for the lips. Everyone thinks of their skin sagging as it loses collagen as we age, but few people think about the lips. Our lips thin as we get older, losing the same support as our skin. Other women may not have lost as much volume in their lips as much as they never had it. They may not have ever been happy with the fullness and definition of their lips. Juvéderm® Ultra XC provides or returns fullness and fills the vertical wrinkles that form on our lips.
Where is Juvéderm® Voluma XC used?
Dr. Schlessinger may call it “age-related midface volume loss.” You know it simply as sagging cheeks. Over time as you lose the collagen to support your skin and as your underlying support tissues weaken, your cheeks flatten. Juvéderm® Voluma XC is designed to add volume beneath the skin’s surface to lift and contour the cheek area. Plump cheeks are a tenet of a younger look.
How long do these Juvéderm® products last?
All three Juvéderm® formulations are long lasting. Plus, future injections usually need less product to achieve the same results.
- Juvéderm® Voluma XC provides the longest-lasting hyaluronic acid filler results, restoring cheek volume for up to two years.
- Juvéderm® XC treats the wrinkles and lines around your mouth for up to one year.
- Juvéderm® Ultra XC plumps the lips for up to one year, with 78 percent of people treated expressing satisfaction with their lips after one year.
Will my lips return to how they were if I stop having Ultra injections?
Eventually your body absorbs the hyaluronic acid in Juvéderm® Ultra XC and your lips return to their old, thinner, less defined selves.
Can I have Juvéderm® injections while breastfeeding?
While there hasn’t been any research on this, ethical doctors will not give dermal filler injections to pregnant women or women who are breastfeeding.
Does Juvéderm® cause bruising?
Any time we receive an injection there is a slight chance of bruising. This goes for a dermal filler or a tetanus shot. Juvéderm® is injected with a thin needle, but it can cause minor bruising that passes in a day or two.
Is Juvéderm® safe?
All of the Juvéderm® fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the human body. Because of that fact, reactions to Juvéderm® are almost unheard of. These fillers have been injected millions of times and have proven to be safe, and very effective.
How much does Juvéderm® cost?
The Juvéderm® fillers are priced by the syringe, with a single syringe costing between $600-$700. How much you will need is wholly dependent upon the area you are seeking to address and the degree of volume loss you have in that area. Prior to injecting any Juvéderm®, we can usually provide you with a pretty good idea of how much your will need and what your cost will be.
